The UW-Madison Economics Department is a highly ranked program dedicated to excellence in research and teaching. The department is one of the largest departments in the College of Letters & Science with more than 40 faculty, 12 teaching lecturers, 1,700 undergraduate students, 100+ Masters students and 140+ PhD students in residence. Professor Kirpalani has been honored with the H.I. Romnes Fellowships to recognize faculty with exceptional research contributions within their first six years from promotion to a tenured position. The award is named in recognition of the late WARF trustees president H.I. Romnes and comes with $60,000 that may be spent over five years.
